0’s and 1’s in My Ear Hole or Why tUnE-yArDs is Worth the Hype

This record makes me happy.
It is so full of love and rage and weirdness that one might mistake it for life itself.
Merrill Garbus’s voice is so powerful and flexible while being put through the digital ringer of loops and other electronic gyrations while the back beat keeps on keepin’ on.
If it hasn’t already this album is destined to generate a huge cult of earnest young music lovers hungry for something they can cling to that speaks to them and the infinite clumsy awkwardly tentative graceful beauty that is youth at any age.
And for that tUnE-yArDs I salute thee.

if i was young and hip and / or nerdy in a hip & nerdy way, i’d be listening almost exclusively to tUnEyArDs & yuck. as it is, i am old and petrifying before your very eyes…yet i still find time for both, anyway. ‘cuz at the end of the day, i’m hip and nerdy, too.
