Finger Malfunction Or The Bird Is Not The Word

Is it more of a comment on M.I.A., us, or Super Bowl half time extravaganzas that Madonna’s homoerotic Roman coliseum by way of Las Vegas (of course) spectacle was the most subversive thing during the show?
Despite a misstep of a last album and a damning NY Times profile I still expected more than a childish petulant middle finger from the person behind the pretty great Kala .
Oh well. I suppose it’s fitting for these times that a material girl will trump an agitprop rapper.
